Following a kick off meeting in 2007 with the partners it was decided to concentrate initiatives in the four following areas:

The Value of Mail
Promote a positive image of the industry

Many myths exist on the impact of paper, mail and written communications on the environment. These myths will be refuted by EMIP.

For example: Paper does not deplete forests. 37.8% of Europe is covered with trees, 30% more than in 1950, an increase of 607,000 hectares or 1.5 Million soccer fields each year!! Therefore, written communication is not the cause for deforestation.

Activities associated with the provision of written communication services do have an impact on the environment. EMIP will demonstrate the efforts that stakeholders undertake to reduce their carbon footprint replacing it with positive contributions to sustainable industry methods.
